I’m mad at myself.

3 Jul

I started this blog with every intention of really cooking and writing every single day. But turns out that I might be busier now than I have been in years.

And this rabid monkey keeping me up at night isn’t going to help me…it’s dark, as it was 3AM last night…be sure to turn your sound to normal levels or your house may crumble…. http://yfrog.com/2ofj6jz

But then she can also do this.

Dammit you must take her bad with her good…

Anyhow. Thank you guys for your patience. I really hate seeing the numbers on the blog fall. It’s depressed me a bit…and it’s my own damned fault for not posting! I mean clearly this isn’t about advertisers as I have none, and it’s purely for the enjoyment of you and I..but still.

And I really like that you guys have all kinda come together in the comments. We all have a great common bond which I guess is different than the twitter thing.

I will make it my goal to now do at least 4 or 5 posts a day, if not more. But if I don’t, please don’t call me out on it…I get sad enough about it as it is. And if you have any recipes you read about, see online, or just have in general, let me know and I’ll toss it on the site 🙂

    Thanks Chrissy!!

Chrissy you’re awesome! One of these days can you try to make a classic eggs benedict? Its one of my favorites and apparently the hollandaise sauce is the hardest thing to make in the cooking world, but I’m sure you can do it! (with a glass of wine in hand, of course)

    • chrissyteigen July 3, 2011 at 8:17 pm #

you should read “kitchen confidential” by anthony bourdain….he goes in depth about hollandaise sauce and talks about how it causes the most illness in the food industry because in order for it to set and be deliciously thick, the raw egg yolk has to sit at room temperature for a while, and in icky restaurants, the bacteria can just latch onto it. i LOVE eggs benedict too but this is always on my mind! So yeah, his tip, only have it at GREAT restaurants, haha .

anyhow I’ve never made it but would definitely love to!!

      • DTfromKC July 5, 2011 at 7:56 pm #

Anthony Bourdain is the shit! If I could cook AT ALL, I’d aspire to be like him. He has the best job in the world, not that yours is too shabby, either.

I think you should consider stand-up comedy if you ever retire from modeling. I follow you on twitter simply because your posts make me laugh out loud!! Your account of going to FL to pick up Pippa was hysterical!!!

  4. Tracey G. July 3, 2011 at 8:41 pm #

Loved your tweets yesterday about picking up Pippa. She is beyond adorable. Please continue to post pics of her. We def. need a pic of big of brother (puddy)/sister together.

  5. Melissa July 3, 2011 at 8:43 pm #

This is my first time posting but I’ve been reading your blog since you started. And I LOVE it!!! Don’t get so down on yourself — I think everybody knows (or should know) that a blog can take a lot of work. Anyway, keep it up! Your posts are hilarious and you have such an inviting way of writing. So glad you started this.

  6. Quinne July 3, 2011 at 8:54 pm #

Awwww she’s sooo cute! I just got a new rotthuahua puppy sooo I understand the good and bad and time capturing non-sense.
    Love the blog!… and you!

  7. meghandowling July 3, 2011 at 8:56 pm #

I’ve gotta say–I know it was on your trainer’s blog, but that chipotle sauce/marinade is the balls. I’ve been putting it on everything for like a week now. Props.

In my experience, you get a few of “my bads” with your blog. If people are into it, they’ll come back. (I used up all my “my bads,” though, so now the only people reading my blog are Slovakians typing “sarah palin boobs” or “nasse vagina” into search engines. Which is actually kind of liberating.)

Anyway, going to try out that Kalbi next week, thanks for posting!

  8. laviecrue July 3, 2011 at 9:10 pm #

I just got a Frenchie puppy this week myself. I’ve given it a lot of thought, and I’m leaning toward naming her “Birth Control.”

  9. futurecelebritygossip July 3, 2011 at 9:21 pm #

Girlfriend absolutely lovin’ what you’re doing
just so proud to find another so obsessed with food!

Much prefer it here to twitter,
less dudes trying to impress you here with put downs and jibing x 😉

Have no idea how you could hear that cry last night!
I would have had her nuzzled into my heart so tight!

  10. Christina July 3, 2011 at 9:50 pm #

Don’t worry about missing out on blogging for a few days. You are damn busy. You have a career and a personal life. We get it. Those of us who dig your blog will stick around. Don’t stretch yourself too thin..Your posts are fab and worth waiting for. Pippa is very cute by the way! Good luck getting her adjusted.

  11. Nina July 3, 2011 at 11:36 pm #

Your tweets are hilarious so I’m glad you started a blog and Pippa is so adorable!!

  13. Dean July 4, 2011 at 1:19 am #

4-5 posts per day? Maybe aim for 4-5 posts per week so you’re not forever depressed about failing to meet your own high expectations. Love the blog.

  14. Danni July 4, 2011 at 1:35 am #

    Hey Chrissy,
As a regular twitter reader I’ve been looking forward to your blog and i think it’s great. People always like to complain about something, don’t let it bother you.
Better to do a good post every now and again than just a load of crap ones!
    Oh and Pippa is gorgeous!
    D 🙂

  15. Patrícia July 4, 2011 at 1:43 am #

    Hi, Chrissy.
Your puppy is so cute, I have two cats, but I wanna get a dog soon.
I really like the way you write.

  16. A.C. July 4, 2011 at 1:57 am #

I love the chubby puppy and the bag too. 4-5 posts a day sounds like an excessive amount! How about just 1-2? I mean, love what you do and what you have to say but even bloggers who do it for a living don’t post that much a day!

  17. Erica July 4, 2011 at 2:16 am #

Can you blog a delicious diet that aides weightloss? I just saw the Rony Shram shoot and I wanna look like that! Ta!

  18. Lizzie July 4, 2011 at 3:01 am #

Been following you on twitter for a long time and I gotta say your tweets are my favorites!! Love the blog and can’t wait to try and make some of your sweet recipes! Thank you! Oh and Pippa is the cutest!!!

  19. xoxome11 July 4, 2011 at 9:06 am #

OK, so yesterday, when katvonkat stepped in for a busy Chrissy and posted the link I requested for the chili sauce, I got all warm and fuzzy about this blog (NOT anything like the damn crazy Twitter community – geeze!). I actually thought for a moment to thank katvonkat by sending on the recipe to something I had just made and was AMAZING, but I didn’t know “blog protocol” and if Chrissy would mind us “taking over”. Now, with this post, I think I’ll start a bit of sharing. So here’s my favorite “go to” dip — it’s a twist on the ubiquitous hummus – but the lemon and fresh parsley give it this incredibly fresh taste — I’ve had many summer nights where I eat so much of this while cooking dinner for the fam that I end up not eating the dinner that I cooked! Oh, and most importantly, goes MARVELOUSLY with a good glass of red wine…

15 oz can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
1/4 cup fresh parsley (I go heavy handed on this)
juice of whole lemon (plus some zest, because, y’know, zest adds mmm…)
chopped garlic (I don’t like a lot of garlic, so I use 1 clove — add to your liking)
    salt n peppa
    1/3 cup olive oil

mix first 5 ingredients in a food processor, add salt n peppa to taste. When creamy, slowly drizzle in olive oil with machine running.

Serve w. veggies (for low carb!) OR I make whole wheat pita chips (drizzle cut up ww pita w olive oil. add salt, pepper, oregano – bake 400 for 8-10 minutes.)

Hope you all enjoy! Chrissy, congrats on little Pippa!

(and I have no idea if I need to add this, but above is adapted from a Giada De Laurentiis recipe — so there, don’t sue me G — I have kids to put through college!)

    • catvoncat July 4, 2011 at 2:47 pm #

      Mmmmm, that sounds fabulous, xoxome11!

Chrissy, don’t be mad at yourself on our accounts! Blogging is hard. I used to get bummed when my favorite blogs didn’t have new content up every day, until I started blogging myself and realized how much work it can be to write even one post, let alone coming up with new stuff to write about every day! It’s very time-consuming. And if I had Pippa right now, I wouldn’t be able to write anything at all because I’d be too busy blowing raspberries on her adorable, fat little puppy belly and smelling her puppy breath!

  20. Becky July 4, 2011 at 2:45 pm #

Aw pippa the puppy is so cute… Congratulations to the newest addition to your family! She is gorgeous strange squeaky yelps an all 🙂 By the way blog is great, I think your posting plenty so don’t be so hard on yourself.

I baked the yummiest Chocolate Mayo Cake today for my Bro’s Birthday. If anyone is interested in trying out this yummy moist light chocolate delight http://www.odlums.ie/index.php?page=chocolate-mayo-cake Happy Independence day! x

I love reading all your tweets/posts about food, sarah palin, annoying followers, john legend (you’re so lucky), and pippa! I don’t mean to suck up, but you are completely hilarious. please keep posting yummy food ideas and the cherry mojito–OMG.

A friend of mine and I made these homemade snickers bars for a peanut cooking competition (long story). We didn’t win, but that’s because we were the very LAST peanut dish the judges ate and they literally said “I don’t want to eat any peanuts or chocolate” and then ate our food… We found them to taste amazing. Enjoy!

I wanted to post and say that I love your blogging/love you. We have pretty much nothing in common except our age (I’m 5’2″, have no boobies, am a lawyer not a model, and live in an area of LA that I’m pretty sure is way more ghetto than where you live) but I like to read your twitter and blog and pretend that we are bff. This all sounds really creepy, but I swear I’m a normal human being with real friends. I just think you’re really smart and funny and cool and wow this sounds like a 3rd grade love letter.

Anyhow, keep up the good work! I think I’m maybe as obsessed with food as you are and I love reading your posts.

  24. Laura July 5, 2011 at 10:18 am #

Your dog is so cuuuuute! I’ll trade her for mine (a 12 year old lurcher cross). An offer you can’t refuse!

  25. brittykelly July 5, 2011 at 11:51 am #

I’m in love with Pippa, I’ve been using your photos to show my boyfriend in an effort to convince him to let me get one. I’ve been on a search for delicious food that won’t kill me, any suggestions for any sort of cookbook you’ve come across for recipes that are full of flavor but not fat?

  26. Kristyn Thiel July 5, 2011 at 4:31 pm #

OMG your dog is so cute!! Both of them! And i love this food blog! I have been following you on twitter for a hot minute now and effing love u!! Please post more recipes!

  27. Katie Carr July 5, 2011 at 7:37 pm #

Please would you make a post about your failed twix bars?

  28. Daniel Thomas July 5, 2011 at 8:50 pm #

Anyone expecting you to write 4 or 5 posts a day clearly does not realize you have a life outside of this and probably needs to get a life, themselves, especially given the fact that you’re doing this for fun for your fans and not making money from it. I don’t see how you could keep up with your modeling career and everything else while having to sit on a computer all day long, getting all pale and out of shape, like me.

I do, however, have a somewhat unrelated question to this post: being an aspiring fashion/portrait photographer, I love that photo collage someone made of you of you from those black and white photos that were posted on the link to this post from that other blog.. these: http://youngmarriedchic.com/2011/06/model-chef-chic/desktop5/ Can you tell me what publication those are from, or who the photographer was? Thanks! High-five.

      Oh well. Whatev.

  29. Christinaa July 5, 2011 at 10:46 pm #

I made your chipotle/tequila marinade…..OMG Orgasm in my mouth! I can not stress how good it was…thank you! totally used the “oh this old recipe” line to my guest haha

  30. CourtneeMayumi July 6, 2011 at 12:43 am #

Love the blog, love your twitter, love john legend cause of you (and not vice versa like some of your fans). Lol ok, i’m usually not a freak but mainly i wanted to say you could blog about fashion/beauty tips as well. Visiting NYC in the fall and i want to know wear to shop. I’m staying Soho. Please help 🙂

  31. A.Petra July 6, 2011 at 3:29 pm #

    1. I will be completely honest in saying that you have the cutest fucking dogs on the planet and I wouldnt hesitate to hip-check the shit out of your adorable skinny ass if I thought I could then steal both of them simultaneously. (highly unlikely scenario, but know that while i was enjoying my new play-mates, your former dogs, I would feel remorseful for any pain or suffering I may have caused you in the take-down.)

    2. Would love to see a Mac n’ cheese blog. Yep, that’s right. The good ol’ fashioned comfort food that is probably singularly responsible for child obesity…well that along with gummy bears and sodas (sick). I have heard of several great gourmet versions of the mac but nothing I have come across says “serve this nom up at a dinner party and watch the carb-conscious bitches squirm” (sorry, i know you might be one of these said carb-conscious bitches right now). Yes I know mac n’ cheese is hardly dinner party fare. Nevertheless, I would like to make something that is a little classier than the version you only eat when you are in sweat pants, have unwashed hair, are in the middle of a terrible movie marathon and would rather drown yourself in the toilet than let even the local garbage man get a whiff of your laziness.

You do great work. Thanks for the laughs and the awesome recipes!

  32. Margaret Wheeler July 6, 2011 at 10:58 pm #

Chrissy – your tweets are hilarious. Keep on it. I remember those sad cries when our dogs were puppies…this too shall pass. 🙂
